Ok, I admit it, I’m a little obsessed with cereal. I have probably tried every kind known to man (including some international kinds that I had to specially order). At any time, we have probably 8-10 different kinds of cereal open in our house, plus another 10-15 unopened boxes of cereal on top of our fridge. I have even taken to trying generic cereals just to get a different taste, and that is why I am writing today.
Kroger has a new generic cereal out called “Aliens”. “Aliens”, like its name implies, is a cereal made from multi-colored UFO, meteoroid and extraterrestrial pieces, plus star-shaped marshamallows. This new cereal is not a knock-off of a cereal brand that is currently on the market, but it tastes a lot like an old, discontinued cereal called “Kaboom” that was put out by General Mills for many years.
So why am I so excited by this? I LOVE “Kaboom” and have been in a sort of withdrawal since General Mills stopped manufacturing it several years ago. “Kaboom” hasn’t actually been sold in this part of Ohio for many years, even before it was officially discontinued. In fact, I used to drive to either WV or IN to buy it. My husband even bought me three boxes of “Kaboom” as one of my Christmas gifts years ago!
Does anyone else out there remember “Kaboom” or have a special place in their heart for another discontinued cereal? Just curious to see if I am fighting an obsessive complex here or if I’m perfectly normal.
