I made a reckless error that any seasoned freelance writing professional should be over by now! I sent an email submission for a story to Aim Magazine, but wrote the header of the email to Brilliant Star Magazine. And of course, as fate would have it, I noticed this about a half-second AFTER I had sent the email! Ugh! I was feeling really good about this submission too! I felt that I had finally found the right place for one of my manuscripts, but then I went and blew it by addressing the whole thing to the wrong periodical! I doubt they will even bother to read it now!
To try to save face, I did write a follow up email to Aim, apologizing for the error and letting them know that currently they are the only magazine I have submitted this particular story to. I hope they will give me a break, but I know first impressions are tough to overcome and can cripple you in this industry. Have any of you other fellow writers out there made a simple, STUPID mistake like that?
On the bright side, I had a delicious Reese’s peanut butter cup sundae from Friendly’s with lots of peanut butter syrup on top. It’s so good, but so rich! It kinda makes you feel like you have ingested an entire jar of Jiffy.
