Why Stars Explode
Written By: Maranda Russell
Feeling lonely tonight,
wondering if the night sky
knows how I feel –
it seems like she would.
All that emptiness,
the vast space between each star,
perhaps that is the real reason stars explode –
not because of heat,
not because of age,
but simply due to the overwhelming shadow
cast by their own isolation.

Hi! I am an artist, author, and blogger who also happens to have Aspergerβs Syndrome. I have won several awards and honors for my writings and artwork. I suffer from a few severe mental illness and chronic pain conditions (Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, Ehlers Danlos, Degenerative Disc Disease, etc.), which greatly affects my life and makes me want to advocate for others going through similar things. Other interests of mine include reading, writing, drawing, watching cartoons and movies, collecting toys, hanging out with my family, and annoying my 3 cats.

Thank you. I actually wrote this a while ago and came across it again the other day and wanted to share it. Luckily I’m not feeling that lonely right now, but it certainly is a feeling I’m intimately familiar with.

This is beautifully written, it gives you that sense of fragility and pain that comes with isolation and loneliness, and it’s a really interesting perspective to see the stars exploding because of it. xx

Thank you. It is a very sad poem, but also beautiful I think in its own way.
