Not feeling very good today. A lot of it has to do with physical stuff. My back has been really messed up for a few days now. I’m not sure if it is the degenerative disc disease or the slipped disc causing the awful pain in my neck and back, but it is starting to take a toll on my mental health too. I find that even when you are doing fairly well mentally, that if you are in chronic pain, it is almost impossible to keep your mood high.
I did hear back from our health insurance that they approved my epidural shots for my slipped disc, but I have to pay hundreds up front for the deductible, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to afford that. I’m also quite nervous about getting the shots anyhow. Having a needle stuck into my spine is scary.
I have had that shot in the spine, it sounds scary but it works amazing for a while. The problem is sometimes it only lasts a few months. For some people it lasts longer and some shorter. For me it lasted about 5 months which was pretty awesome honestly. It can really help nub out the area. So if you can afford the co-pay it is usually worth it. I know I felt like a human for a few months. It almost knocked out the backpain and hip pain for 3 months. After that it started creeping back in hurting a little bit more and more. It lasts different for everyone but I know I want to do it again myself so it does work at making your life better at least for a little while.

Well, that is good to hear at least. Was the shot itself really painful? I worry about having to stay still when they do it because I am extremely sensitive to pain and worry I will flinch instinctively even if I try to stay still. My anxiety also makes it hard for me to stay perfectly still, often when I’m really anxious I shake.

Thanks Mark! It is so hard to not feel like crap when you are in pain 😦 Even if everything else is going ok.

Did it hurt a lot to get the shot? I am terrified about being able to lie still as well.

I feel your pain. I had back surgery 5 years ago for a herniated disc. I also have degenerative discs and scoliosis. I know constant pain. I hope they can help you.😊💛

Thanks Walt. It can be awful sometimes. I have the degeneration throughout my cervical and thoracic spine and the slipped discs are in the cervical region as well. I was told as a kid that I had scoliosis during one of the school checks, so not sure if that may have contributed too.
