Astrology Talk: No Wonder I’m So Emotional

My personal astrology chart

I don’t know if any of my readers are into astrology, but I’ve always found it fascinating (one of my Asperger obsessions maybe). I don’t give any credence normally to the daily astrology forecasts you find in newspapers and magazines, as I figure much of that is probably made up and not even necessarily written by people who really have a good grasp on astrology, but I do find that there is some truth to the fact that people born under specific signs seem to share certain personality traits, characteristics, and life themes.

One thing that many people don’t realize is that according to true astrology, it isn’t just your sun sign that makes a huge impact on your personality and life path. Your moon sign and ascendant sign matter a lot too. There are websites where you can put in your birth information and find out what all three of these signs are, as well as lesser astrological influences.

When I looked mine up, I found out that all three of my major signs are water signs: Sun – Scorpio, Moon – Pisces, Ascendant – Scorpio. And what are water signs known for? Being emotional and intuitive. Just like large bodies of water, we are fluid, constantly shifting, and often unstable. With three major water signs, is it any wonder that I often feel ungrounded (lack of the earth element), apathetic and lazy (lack of the fire element), and heavily weighed down by uncontrollable feelings (lack of air element)? Seems to me water signs were made to be bipolar lol.

I know some people think this is all mumbo jumbo, and I respect their opinion, but I still enjoy studying it. If any of you would like to hear more about astrology in the future, let me know!

  1. I’d be interested if in some further post you expand on how/why you find there to be “some truth to the fact” of shared traits among people born under particular “signs.” Like where does this truth come from, what is it based on and measured by, and how do you know? Don’t mean this to sound like interrogation, I’m honestly just curious how you think this through! In fact, I’m open to there being SOME genuine truth here — as a Christian, I definitely believe there are more layers to reality than the narrow confines of Enlightenment “rationality” will admit.

    1. Well, most “proof” I could provide would obviously be anecdotal and based on people I know intimately and personally, but yeah, I could write about how the signs really seem to fit people I know deeply, including myself of course.

  2. I am ascendant and moon sign Taurus, and sun, mercury, venus and pluto in scorpio. Mars in aquarius MC.
Baby I’m all too grounded, and just never effing “stop”/”let go”. I too lack fire and energy. The fire I do have in my chart is north node aries 12th house, and uranus and saturn sagittarius 8th house. Incredibly difficult to ignite, and whenever it does flare up it is almost as quickly transmuted again…

      1. I was right! Well, I didnt tell anyone except myself. I did my investigative obsessive thing and tried to replicate your chart on my phone and I got it to 27 10 1982, 8.29am. I had a feeling that you had to be around 28th October. Because people of significance in my life tend to have a birthday that adds up to 29/11. They were people I’ve labeled as my soul mates. I do feel reverence and awe towards you, but the decided lack of “love me too please” on my end had me think of what you represented to me. Why did I talk to you why did you respond to me and this… continuous give and take. Well you couldn’t be born 28th oct, but the 27th added up to 30. And it’s so close and yet so far. Number 3 is either my inner or outer self number, what I project on to others or what I want to be. Lol. Yeah. Numerology is something you might like to dabble in for funsies, if you havent already

      2. I have dabbled some in numerology. I knew I was a 3. I actually kind of think of three as a holy number anyhow, so I’m good with that 🙂 I know having the 11 is a Master number, so that is pretty cool for you!

      3. 11 never meant much to me because anyone born in November has that number. I’m born in November. Fucking whoop de doo. Lol
But it’s all these maths… not only the final number but the method of calculation, how and where you reduce the numbers down to a single digit… my life path (birthdate) number is 5, which is chaos and rhythm and my birth name is 8, success. My partners is 7 which is analytical, and mystical, and his name is 1, authority. My daughter’s destiny/expression is 3, but I realise now she has too many 3’s and is unbalanced in that apsect and her birthdate/life path is 22. Like whoa mother fucker. And my son, his name is 10/1, and his birthdate is 20/2. So… and they were both emergency cesarean so i didnt choose their birth dates…
I have a knack for identifying patterns. Anywhere. Numbers, colours sequences shapes behaviour relationships psychology…. I try not to look to hard for anything because I know that if you look for it you will find it. By having it in your mind you will see it more and more.

      4. I definitely agree that if you are looking for something, you seem to find it everywhere! It is amazing how that works. In some ways I think that is the reality of the “law of attraction” is just noticing what you are looking for in the first place! Not too long ago I figured out my name number, but I am always torn about should I use my middle name too? And I was adopted at the age of 6 by my mom’s new husband at the time, so I figure I should use my birth last name, even though in some ways I identify more with the adopted last name.

      5. You should use your full name at birth because that was not chosen by you. However every name we take on becomes an influence on our sense of self. So essentially the names you choose for yourself have a greater degree of influence over you. Using your full name at birth (or whatever is on your i.d documentation) is essentially the identification of your soul in this lifetime.
In terms of adoption, the name chosen by your birth parents would be the main influence in your life and sense of self.
The name you use day to day isnt always the same as out “full birth name”, so that number is also considered. Whatever name you go by in any context has it’s own kind of energy. So perhaps figure out what “vibe” you want to give off, or embody. Identify the number that relates to that, and see where you can find it in your life already.

      6. Omg I love it when people ask because I love to be useful! The kite formation represents fate, it’s not a common shape to find in astrology where all aspects are represented. It consists of 3 major aspects: a grand trine, a grand sextile, and and opposition. The kite in itself is “fate, a paradox, the mystery of metamorphosis”, in relation to the specific planets that make the kite. As well and the signs and houses.
There is this energy inside of yourself that is like a singularity… this self limiting and enclosing intense pressure. You recognize there must be balance somewhere and what happens is that you end up crushing and destroying yourself because you’re the only one who can sense it, no one else seems to notice so you direct that energy on/in to yourself. It clouds your evaluative ability and you dont know why but it also messes up your sense of self, it basically falls on you to have to change yourself and your identity. Your emotions are connected with your sense of home, you’re really sensitive and if your relationship with your mum or idea of home is off balance, your emotional self gets sucked into that “black hole of limitation and transformation”. You need to have a strong centre of balance so you dont lose yourself and your identity and sanity. That balance is in through where you feel the most love in your life. If we think of archetypes, hades (pluto/saturn) and Artemis (moon) are massive influences in your life. You are innately sensitive to their interactions and their influence in your life. But there has to be a 3rd in order to direct that energy so it doesn’t consume you. This emotional conflict is expressed through your need to create something tangible and physical, to give you a sense of reality. It grounds you in the here and now. You must Express yourself and have freedom to do so. But if you dont “sent it out and away” from yourself, if you keep it all private and internal, it will eventually consume all of you. The north node is a sensitive point, not a planet, so you’re supposed to send that “energy” there. Its s release valve so to speak. And its located in the 8th house which (rulers scorpio, mars (old) pluto (modern)) will help support your sense of home and emotions (rulers cancer and moon).

      7. Wow, a lot of that sounds right on. Especially about me turning everything inwards on myself. My relationship with my Mum is crazy complicated, I doubt it will ever be resolved to my satisfaction, but I have found a sense of home in my husband and our life we have created. So what third deity would exemplify the missing ingredient you think?

      8. I dont know. The planets in this combo are mars (direct action) and uranus (change, time, rebel, freedom) so you would need to decide if you’d like to see if there is a corresponding deity you already identify with these traits, if you would like to find a deity that embodies these traits, or will you need to do further research and decide who best fills this role to you?
For me, I like ares, he fits my aphrodite. He is direct and passionate and his aggression is a natural fit for Mars and uranus. Or Lucifer, as the bringer of light and the use of ideas to instigate change. Or perhaps an Egyptian deity? Loki is fun, his trickster ways resonate with me.

      9. Hmmm, I’ll have to think about it. Not a big fan of Ares overall. I do like Apollo too (Artemis’ twin brother), not sure if he would fit those traits or not though. Dionysus is certainly fun, I like his party attitude lol.

      10. For me, my kids and and husband and I, we in a fucked up way are a complete pantheon. The 4 of us, and our unique combinations are … a whole system. My husband and I are complementary opposites, and out kids are each others complementary opposite. And then out interrelationship can be seen as 3 that are harmonious with 1 “outsider”. That singular outsider is not good or bad, it is just a positional reference. The fundamental dynamics of mathematics and mathematical formula (and their practical physical manifestation seen in geometrical shapes). The the combination of 1 (individual) and 2 (duality), 3 (harmonious flow of energy) and 4 (dynamic and strong by oppositional force).
I would recommend starting from the point of who you most identify with and following the trail from that deity. And gender is meaningless, it is just a way of expressing that energy “direct/active” vs “indirect/passive”. I like Ares direct masculinity, his “take what you want” as it complements my Aphrodite (wants to be loved but will not admit or ask for it). I want Ares to take action, but he doesn’t do shit unless he feels like it. So I have to essentially petition Dionysus. Dionysus would be an excellent counter to Ares. Dionysus loves women, and listening to women and loving women, and just.. dionysus worships women.
LOL I don’t even remember where I was going with this. I guess if your husband is your centre, your stablising force (like mine is), who do you imagine him being? What seems to fit his personality and type and tendencies?

      11. I’m not sure exactly what role my husband plays. Many I suppose. We are very similar in temperament. We get along so well, I don’t think we’ve had a real “fight” just debates. He is sometimes my caretaker due to my physical and mental issues. He is definitely someone who likes to care for others. He is very responsible and level-headed which is probably a good alternative to my emotionality, even though sometimes I have wanted him to show more emotion. We are definitely best friends.

      12. If you are comfortable I would like to know his birth data? My husband has been this fucking rock in my life. He is my other half. And depending how I feel at the moment will determine how I refer to him. He loves me and challenges me. He nurtures me and supports me. We could function independently of each other, but then we end up turning self destructive… and its only by us being together at all, have we seen the chance/way/whatever… he is my exact opposite… we are the same in so many ways and contrary is so many other ways… we fit together in such a.. way… that magic happens. We, together, because of each other, from us things grow. Like I’m east/west, he is north/south. When we are solid together, just… I dunno. Out kids, we made them on purpose. Specifically. There was nothing serendipitous about their conception. We plan we want we do. And they’re great. They’re doing great. And the world is brighter, at least to us.

      13. Can I please confirm if that is October 1 or January 10? Here in Australia, our dates are dd/mm/yy. I don’t want to get it mixed up. But he’s your 11. Because 10+1 (same as 1+10) = 11.
