Another Fun Visit to the ER

I spent yesterday in the ER. Always lots of fun. I was rather freaked out because I literally couldn’t swallow at times and felt like I was going to choke to death or something. I also was having chest pains, trouble breathing, and feeling like I was going to pass out. Now I get to go back to the GI doctor because they think there are probably issues with damage to my esophagus.

Still not feeling much better today. They put me on some meds that are supposed to protect and hopefully help repair damage done to the esophagus, but no relief yet. I still struggle to swallow, keep coughing, and feel like there is something permanently stuck in my throat. Eating and drinking is no fun, even the smoothie I tried to drink earlier struggled to go down. My chest, especially around my breastbone feels like there is an elephant sitting on it. Man, this sucks.

      1. Just means we are connected 🙂 I’ve had stuff like that happen too. After my husband had surgery, I almost passed out while visiting him in the hospital because I absorbed so much of his physical feelings.

  1. Dang Maranda! I had that happen to me about a month ago. I was eating and all of a sudden I couldn’t swallow and chest pains. I was at a restaurant and went to the restroom and started coughing up liquid. I finally was able to make myself throw up and dislodged a golf ball sized lump of food. I was sick for hours afterward. My doctor called it esophageal constriction and said I was lucky I was able to clear it. He said if it happens again to go to the ER and they dislodge the blockage and can widen the esophagus. I have been fine since. I hope it all works out well for you my friend.

    1. Thanks so much. I have to go to the GI doctor and get a scope of the esophagus to see exactly what is going on. Hoping it will go ok. My inability to swallow has happened even when I wasn’t eating or drinking anything 😦
