Not many 10-year-olds
could be hit
by a speeding
delivery truck
while crossing the street
and live
to tell the tale…
but I always was
a weird statistic.
The truck ran
me over
with the ease
of a speed bump.
I even had the
tire tracks
and imbedded gravel
across my stomach
to prove it.
When I woke up
in the ER
I screamed out the names
of all the people
I was going to sue…
until my mother
bought my silence by
bribing me
with the promise
of a brand new
Barbie doll.

I suffer from a few severe mental illness and chronic pain conditions (Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, Ehlers Danlos, Degenerative Disc Disease, etc.), which greatly affects my life and makes me want to advocate for others going through similar things. Other interests of mine include reading, writing, drawing, watching cartoons and movies, collecting toys, hanging out with my family, and annoying my 3 cats.

Must have been a frightening experience.

It was! Rather funny now in some ways when I look back on it, but I realize how lucky I was to survive.

Perhaps, ironically, it delivered Barbie. I really enjoyed this.

I was trying to remember what company it drove for, but can’t recall. I know the company paid for all my medical bills.

Wow, but then so they should, in spite of the cost to you personally, it is also a great story.

By the way, the truck driver actually felt really bad and even visited me in the hospital.
