This week has been stressful. I’m not sure if I’m just overreacting to things because I’m autistic and hypersensitive to everything (especially changes in routine), or if this would even throw many normal people off their game, but since Monday:
- I had to wait hours at the BMV to renew my driver’s license and then sweat it out when they weren’t sure if my two forms of address verification were acceptable. (Thank God they ended up accepting them in the end so I didn’t have to do the whole process over again.)
- Our electricity went out Monday night (along with 3,000 other homes and businesses in the area, eventually they did get it restored.)
- My husband’s birthday was on Monday and I ended up going to 4 different stores looking for a birthday balloon for him because everyone was out 😦
- My psychiatrist appointment got moved up today from 3pm to 2pm which meant I had to alert my husband who drives me. He then had to check to see if the school could get a substitute teacher in earlier to relieve him so he could take me.
- I almost got kicked off Instagram again (I got warnings again but luckily they haven’t kicked me off yet. I think I may have discovered the issue. I have used an app to track unfollowers and I think that might be what they were picking up on as a “3rd party”. So, I’m just not going to use that app right now.)
I think this would be difficult for most people, but probably worse for someone on the spectrum. The first two in particular would stress me out.

Thanks, good to know I’m not alone.

Power outages really suck – strange to think it wasn’t all that long ago in the grand scheme of things that no one had power.
You’d think before putting out an app the developers would test it and realize that Instagram didn’t like it – otherwise, they’re just setting themselves up for a whole lot of complaints.

Yeah, ugh. IG seems to be the most touchy of the social networks.

I would certainly be feeling that life was against me if I had had to deal with all of that in the same week!

Glad to know I’m not the only one lol.

We are on the spectrum and anything can get us racked up – It’s not just you. Changes in routine (That could be stimming) can be extremely hard on those living with Autism. Routine, routine, routine.

Yeah, any change to my routine really throws me. Even having a doctor appointment wrecks my daily schedule, so having it moved to another time the same day is even worse lol.

Wow Maranda you certainly have a full life, very hectic. I have dysphoria and DID, the weekly shrink routine is well practiced in our house. I have an ex, a wife, four adult kids, five cats and a full time job. Somehow we manage to get through each week with love and good humour.

Most of my weeks aren’t this hectic thankfully lol. This one has been a bit out of the norm. I used to have six cats and foster kids, so I get how crazy it can be. Now we just have three cats and no kids.

Ugh, sounds like ‘one of those weeks’! Glad things worked out with the licence and hopefully – fingers crossed – this week goes a little more smoothly! 🌷
PS. Happy belated Birthday to your hubby!
