I was going to try to write a cheery New Year’s poem…oh well, maybe next year.
“New Year, Same Old Shit”
200,000 crowns
could never satisfy
the heads of those
born unto
the spirit of entitlement.
Nor would 200,000 bodies –
as more than that
have already been
stepped over
or kicked aside
by royal feet.

But whom is it
That presides
Over the heads of the people?
One vote
One person?
No Devine right here,
When the people speak
Rulers fail listen.
Be they King or President
Overall
I am not convinced.
There is only one certainty,
By the ballot box
The elected are removed.

We are usually only given two choices and they both suck lol. As George Carlin said, “if voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it”. It is easy to allow voting when you vet the candidates and make sure only yours make it to the top, especially when you own the media. Also, all our presidents are directly related to the royal european bloodlines, seems a bit odd lol. https://imjustheretomakeyouthink.com/2017/03/11/genealogy-research-reveals-that-all-u-s-presidents-are-related-to-each-other-by-bloodline/

You’re pretty certainly related to royalty yourself, according to maths and science!

Probably true, although my family has had an extensive genealogy done and there weren’t any royals included that I remember, but I’m sure it only went so far back. Of course, if you go far enough back, everyone has to be related, at least if some of us aren’t aliens I suppose.

By the way, the use of the word “royal” in the poem wasn’t so much about actual bloodlines anyway as it was more about the elite in power at any given time in history.

Stalin has a good quote on this too, “It’s not the people who vote that count, it’s the people who count the votes.” If you look into our voting system, it is so open to hacking and manipulation it is scary.

Those quotes are not exact btw, but paraphrased. Also, we don’t actually have one vote, one person with an electoral college or with superdelegates or gerrymandering, or voter suppression…

Point taken, I’m in England subject to the Mother of Parliaments, we do! ✍🏻
