Here in Ohio, non-essential retail stores reopen today! I have been in a depressed funk this past week, so I plan to go out and try to cheer myself up. I know I want to go to the bookstore (bookstores, how I have missed you!) and probably Goodwill. Don’t worry, I will be cautious and try to maintain my distance from others, but I need to feel a bit of normalcy return to my life!
Honestly, I think I likely already had coronavirus a couple months ago anyhow, although I would need to be tested for the antibodies to know for sure. Of course, I have heard reports that you might be able to get it more than once, so still doesn’t hurt to be careful.
Hair salons reopen at the end of the week I think, and it will feel good to get my hair cut again. Funny how you miss little things like that when you can’t do them for a while.
What is going on where you live? Are you still under lockdown? Are things slowly opening back up? Do you plan to go back to normal activity if they do reopen?
We were never under full lockdown here, but more things are going to be starting to open back up. I don’t think it’ll change much for me.

I think just feeling less cooped up will be good.

Funny enough, I’ve also been in a depressed funk these last few weeks. In my country, not many cases of the virus have been tested, so non-essential stores have been opened for a week now. However, I’ve seen on TV that people aren’t really making an effort at social distancing themselves so I’m a bit reluctant to bring back a bit of normalcy into my life

Yeah, I can understand the hesitancy. Especially if you are an at-risk person or have contact with at-risk people.

I will be very cautious when things open up. Going to be a long time before I do any of the things you mentioned. No crowds, no prolonged contact with people I’m not sure of. I don’t plan to be a lab rat in this experiment any more than I have to be.

Im in Illinois and we are still pretty locked down. I will probably change nothing, since I always lived this way to an extent.

Yeah, I can see that.

I’m in a red-zone county in PA and we will likely be one of the last for things starting to reopen. I admit, I have never liked being in crowds anyhow, so it will be difficult to me to re-enter right away. I expect mobs of people who are itching to do so will pack the stores, shops, etc. I plan on continuing to wear my mask in public places even after that restriction is lifted. I prefer shopping online, but I do love thrift store finds, so that will probably be where I head first. Right now, just leisurely hanging out with family and friends will suffice. I very much have a “slow but steady” attitude! And fortunately, my hair salon and my nail salon are both owner-operated, so I’ll be okay one-on-one for those places!

The bookstore actually wasn’t too busy for it being the first day open, but Goodwill was packed.

I know how after an enforced stay at home one craves the outdoor experience. Just be careful and wear a mask.

What you said you were going to do is exactly what businesses and people down here in Tennessee have been doing. Restaurants social distance the open tales for dining in. Stores still have social distance spacing at check out lines and often regulate the flow in and direction of shopper traffic. People social distance, wear masks & gloves… It’s worked out fine.
Watch the news though and see if they don”t try to say everyone going out is infecting each other in Ohio also.

here in california, we are still in a stay at home, but many cities and counties are defying those orders and have started to “open up” to some stores can open but have curb side service only. in other words, if you want something from b&n, you have to order it online or call them and they will bring it out to the curb. what difference is shopping at lowes, walmart or the grocery store than a book store???
restaurants still can not have inside sitting.
masks are required when going into stores
life will not be the “normal” we use to know.
of course there will always be those who will never conform and will place others at risk.
as a healthcare person (reg. nurse) i see no reason places can not open up as long as some changes/precautions are used.
in some places, 40-50% of the cases and deaths have been in nursing homes. if you remove those from the equation, the cases and deaths are low and have come from the office and home. in other words, brought into the office or the home.
we should still be guided by science and medicine when dealing with this virus and getting back to some sort of routine and not by the politicians.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. As you are a nurse, I respect your opinion more than most politicians anyway. I agree with your sentiments on the issue.

Im Ohio too. I am an essential worker, and was taking online college classes when not at work and thus have no social life anyway so not much changed for me other than trying to limit my grocery store trips.
The only major change for me was wearing a mask to work, and could not attend the local ADF rituals.
Oh and been drinking a lot of wine now too. Maybe not the best way to deal the emotions but meh.
Hugs to you, we will get through this becaue us buckeyes are all a little nutz anyways, and we’ve leaned to roll with it.
😂 bad joke totally intented😂

Thank you for continuing to work as an essential worker! I am really thankful for all of you who kept things going! I can understand why you might be drinking more wine lol. I’ve probably been eating a lot more sugar (my addiction).

Living in central Ohio and just staying safe and healthy! My wife and I are practicing social distancing even as the economy reopens. Being in our mid-60s, we need to look out for ourselves. Take care and be safe!
