We saw a couple more snakes while out walking yesterday. These critters seem to always be drawn to us! Do you like snakes? The babies or small ones are my favorites.

    1. Yeah, I get that. There aren’t many poisonous ones around here, and they are pretty easy to tell apart by head shape. I think that is one of the easiest ways to tell many safe snakes from the dangerous ones.

  1. I confess not to be a snake fan. I don’t mind a small garden snake but the big 10 foot gopher snakes are not what I want to come across. Also in the desert climate here we have rattlesnakes and I prefer to avoid those ones as well.

  3. Aww, you’re lucky! I’ve spent quality time with one in the yard. It just watched me from 6 feet away. I moved in to sit closer, about 1 1/2 feet away. It maybe was a garden snake. It didn’t move the entire time I was out, maybe 15 minutes it rested with its head up. It seemed to listen to me baby talk to it. Yeah, I did that. I told it how pretty it was : ) I wish it would come back & hang with me, but my neighbor said he accidentally clipped a snake with the riding lawn mower & had to go over it to end the suffering. : ( Maybe it was my little buddy.

    1. Aw, that is so sad 😦 I once saw a snake that had been run over by a lawnmower and was still barely alive. I can understand your neighbor wanting to end its suffering.

      1. I hope it didn’t suffer long, poor thing. Without a mobile chopping station, gun or knife, I guess other alternatives are bash it’s head in with a rock or hard stomps. I’ve had to smash two slugs that were accidentally stepped on. It’s difficult to muster the force for a slug’s sake and make sure to get the center of where it’s consciousness is seated on the first try. Slugs are so cute to me. If you touch at their tiny eyes, they suck them into their adorable, slimy heads. : )

      2. I wish we had tried to put him out of his misery. I just couldn’t do it. I think now I could. I was much younger back then. Slugs can be cute. I like snails a lot too.

      3. We (many of us anyway) live and learn don’t we. I’m sure that’s a little guilt to live with. When I was young, I sprayed a cockroach with hair spray. I do not know what I was thinking. No, I didn’t light it on fire. I wouldn’t do any such thing today. I also use to stomp on ants for no reason. Now I walk like I’m drunk sometimes to avoid them.
