I’m turning 40 today!

Today is my 40th birthday!!!

I actually feel a bit of relief at hitting age 40. I think part of it is that I feel like I am finally starting to not care as much what others think of me. I’m over feeling inadequate and responsible if someone doesn’t like me or gets mad at me.

Also, I must admit that growing older appeals to me somewhat because I feel younger women are hypersexualized so much in our society and I was always uncomfortable with that.

The only major drawback I see is your physical body breaking down more and more with age. That kind of sucks, especially when you already have a bunch of health issues.

Hi! I am an artist, author, and blogger who also happens to have Asperger’s Syndrome. I have won several awards and honors for my writings and artwork. I suffer from a few severe mental illness and chronic pain conditions (Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, Ehlers Danlos, Degenerative Disc Disease, etc.), which greatly affects my life and makes me want to advocate for others going through similar things. Other interests of mine include reading, writing, drawing, watching cartoons and movies, collecting toys, hanging out with my family, and annoying my 3 cats.

  1. Happy birthday! 40 is awesome. You are right and perceptive about yourself I can see that. I think that around 40 years old you begin to worry less about impressing others and decide that if they don’t like you as you are; then fine – don’t. You are free from jumping hoops.

  3. I hope you can continue to care less what others think & focus on being you. You’re right, there is what feels like increasing sexualisation at a younger age and the rush to grow up, to look like a grown up, seems more significant now than it ever used to. I don’t like it either. I’m caring less these days too, and I’m happy with my Hello Kitty/Tinkerbell/Nightmare Before Christmas etc etc stuff whatever my age. I’m not keen on the worsening health issues with age though, that’s the definite downside!

    I’m sorry I’m late with this but….

    🥳 🎉 HaPpY BeLaTeD bIrThDaY, Maranda! 🥳 🎉
