I’m ready for Halloween! My favorite time/holiday of the year! All the stores already have their Halloween stuff out, so I can share my Halloween art, right? Here are a couple pieces I made last Halloween. I’m sure I’ll have more Halloween art for this year soon!
Lately I’ve gotten into spray paint art. I guess it was a visual artform I had never tried before, so the challenge of learning it appealed to me. It is actually much harder than I imagined lol. Learning how to control the spray just right so that you don’t pool the paint, put on too much paint, or get it all over yourself (as spray paint is a pain in the ass to get off your skin).
For my first few paintings I went entirely abstract, just so I could play around and get a feel for the art medium. Here are my first few paintings, which are on canvas panels:
I came across a Crayola marker set at CVS that I used to create the below artworks. I really like the way these markers give a painting-like feel to the pictures and how the markers show a variety of shades when used. The kit only came with 5 markers (brown, orange, white, green, and pink), but I was able to make the pictures look almost life-like with them.
I just sold this oil pastel painting the other day, but thought I would share because it is one of my favorite recent artworks I have made. I like the earthy, a little bit dark atmosphere, and the figures in line. If I remember right, this was inspired by an old, vintage photo of men waiting in a line to go to their factory job.
I made another Harry Potter fan zine. My last one was for Severus Snape (my favorite character), and this time I decided to do one for Luna Lovegood, my husband’s favorite character and one of my other top picks. I love how Luna was so truly creative, kind, and out there (and I mean WAY out there lol). I love people like that.
Here is a look at the cover and first couple pages of the 8-page mini zine:
Do you like Luna? Who is your favorite Harry Potter character?
I only made 5 copies for the first run, so if you want a copy, check them out on my Ebay store soon!
