Today I’m looking forward to spring! Warmer weather, sunshine, flowers, bunnies…I love it all and am ready to see winter slip into the past! I find that when springtime comes it always does wonders for my mental health, probably due to seasonal affective disorder, which always seems to be an issue in the wintertime. I thought that since I’m feeling it so strongly today, I would share a spring inspired ACEO mixed media collage artwork I made a while ago:
I made this mixed media collage a while back, but I still really like it. Who doesn’t love yummy hot pancakes, and I thought the honeycomb was a nice touch that mixes in nicely with the maple syrup on the pancakes. But my favorite aspects of it are the tiny spider detail and the “wallflower” label. I consider myself quite the wallflower, especially at parties and such (which I normally find a way to avoid anyhow). So, on this lazy Sunday, let us wallflowers unite! And bring us pancakes!
“Time flies” is an expression we often hear, and there may be some truth to it, especially when it comes to “time flies when you’re having fun”. I’ve noticed time doesn’t fly nearly as much if you are depressed or in pain, which is unfortunate, since that is the time it would be best for time to pass swiftly. Just another little unfair quirk of reality. However, I am thankful for the times that do run as swift as a flooded river, because the memories of those good times help get me through the days when time crawls by like a wounded caterpillar. In appreciation of those good times, I created the above little mixed media collage ACEO artwork and thought I would share it with all of you.
I made the following two ACEO art trading card mixed media collages recently (which have already sold). My personal favorite is the first one, because of the interesting contrast of classic poetry and brash, high-fashion boots. For the second one, I wanted to do a social media themed piece, but make it fun and playful.
Not too long ago, I bought a Girl Scout rag doll from Goodwill that came with a packet of Girl Scout stickers. I decided to try to make an artwork out of the stickers and ended up making this mixed media ACEO collage. I like the way it turned out, hope you do too!
I made this dance themed ACEO art trading card last night. In a sense, it is a dream unrealized for me, as I always wished I had been a dancer growing up. I did do gymnastics, but I always wished I could have been a dancer as well. Now with all my physical problems, I doubt I could ever make it through a dance class. Do you have any unrealized dreams like that?
